Biodiesel Processing

Biodiesel is the name given to a renewable diesel fuel that is produced from fats and oils, such as animal fats, waste greases, edible oil processing wastes and other fatty feedstock. Biodiesel fuel is often described as a clean-burning alternative fuel. It does not contain petroleum, however, it can be blended with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend.

High-pressure liquids are used in a variety of the different processes used to fabricate biodiesel fuels. Methanol injection is a common process step. While water is undesirable in the production of biodiesel, it has its use in the production process to reduce the formation of gaseous products and minimize the production of char.
